April 22 – Spend Earth Day at the farm! – CAFF Volunteer Day

Join us Monday the 22nd for the 54th annual Earth Day!We will start the event off with a tour of the farm and a discussion about the role the Center for Arkansas Farms and Food plays in our regional food system. After the tour we will get our hands dirty preparing our planting area for tomatoes and peppers, work on getting some areas covered to help organically prevent weeds, and finish up with a few other farm chores to help get us ready for a busy summer!

May 3rd & 4th – Farming Short Course – Grow Your Farm

.This intensive workshop will help small farmers “Grow their Farm”. Work clothes are needed for this workshop as participants will practice building and maintaining beds with hand tools, a BCS, and a tractor.  They will learn how to expand their market by telling their story on social media and how to analyze their production records to improve profitability. The registration deadline for this hands-on course is April 28th, and the cost is $100. Scholarships are available for those who need them.

May 7th – Beers With Farmers – Gather & Grow: Alumni Reconnect

Join CAFF program alumni and regional farmers in coming together to hear the inspiring journeys of beginning farmers in our area. Gain valuable insights into the challenges and successes of starting a farm. It’s an evening of camaraderie, connection, and celebration of our shared passion for agriculture.

May 10 – CAFF Volunteer Day – De-stress after finals!

After a long finals week, finish your school year with an exciting and rewarding afternoon working on the CAFF farm. We will start the event off with a farm tour and overview of the Center for Arkansas Farms and Foods mission. Then spend the next two hours working with the vegetables and fruits that we grow for the NWA community . 

JUNE

 Join us for a CAFF Farm Open House. You can tour the farm, meet the CAFF team, and learn more about the programs.

JULY

July 1, 2024 – Applications Open for Farm School 2025

Applications for Farm School 2025 are open from July 1 – September 20, 2024. The 11- month intensive program includes course work and field work. You’ll learn hands-on how to run a small-farm.

August 6, 2024 – Beers With Farmers

Join regional farmers for a casual social time. Share a brew, swap a few tall tales, and enjoy the company of farmers. Stay tuned for this quarter’s topic!

September 12, 2024 – Farmers for Tomorrow Fundraiser

Mark your calendars for one of the most fun local farm event of the year! (In our humble opinion.) Join CAFF a starlit party to help-out new local farms. This event always features fabulous food from a local chef, drinks and entertainment!

OCTOBER

October 1, 2024 – Applications Open – CAFF Farm Apprenticeships 2025

Work and learn on a local successful farm in 2025! The CAFF Farm Apprenticeship program matches apprebtices with farms that align with their intersts and future goals. Apprentices hold paid farm positions while learning core curriculum in a series of online courses.

October 18 & 19, 2024 – Small Farm Short Course – Hone Your Skills

Learn key skills such as crop planning, crop costing, soil health, and equipment care. Registration deadline is October 13th and cost is $150. Scholarships available.
