Establishing your social network within your local community can be the key to your successful farm.  It can help you create visibility for your farm but can also help you overcome hurdles in challenging times.

• Meet the cooperative extension agent in your county.
• Visit your local NRCS and FSA Office.
• Develop a relationship with 3-5 other farmers in your area that you can troubleshoot issues, brainstorm ideas and discuss problems.
• Get to know community leaders and business people.
• Create a strong customer base with your local community.
